Extracurricular
At The Beach School we prioritise the wellbeing of our students and their families by providing access to a range of counselling and support services.
Our School Counsellor (Emma) is available four days per fortnight to assist students with social, emotional and mental health needs as well as learning and behavioral concerns. Working closely with students, families and teachers our Counsellor helps create a supportive environment where students can thrive.
In addition, we maintain strong partnerships with local youth services and agencies to ensure comprehensive support for our community. These partnerships include family support, mental health services, youth accommodation, drug and alcohol counselling, career mentoring and more. By hosting Northern Beaches Youth Interagency Services Meeting, The Beach School stays closely connected with agencies that can provide further assistance.
Excursions and Camps
At The Beach School, excursions and camps play a vital role in fostering personal growth, resilience and connection beyond the classroom. These experiences provide students with opportunities to develop confidence, teamwork and independence in engaging and supportive environments.
Some of the camps we hold during the year include trips to The Basin, a tranquil setting where students enjoy outdoor activities like fishing and team-building. We also participate in the BlazeAid camp a unique experience where students assist rural communities in rebuilding after disasters such as fires, floods, cyclones and droughts. This camp not only teaches practical skills but also instills empathy, a sense of community and an appreciation for the strength of those affected by natural disasters.
Other camps have included educational visits to Canberra where students explore Australia’s cultural and political history and adventurous trips like the Ski Camp which encourage students to step out of their comfort zones and try new challenges.
Through camps and excursions The Beach School provides students with enriching experiences that enhance their social, emotional and practical skills helping them grow into resilient and connected individuals.
Enterprise Lab
Students learning real-world skills. Enterprise in the Community is a school based program that pairs real world businesses working together with a group of 5-6 students to solve a problem as identified by the business. The program has been developed to give students the experience working with unique issues that businesses face and allows students to collaborate with peers and practise presentation skills. During the program students work collaboratively to problem solve and present business initiatives and enhancements.
